Honey Garlic Shrimp, Sausage & Broccoli Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
    • 1/4 cup honey
    • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced (optional)
    • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
    • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a bit of heat)
  • For the Stir-Fry:
    • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
    • 8 ounces smoked sausage, sliced into rounds (use chicken, pork, or beef sausage)
    • 2 cups broccoli florets
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
    • 1 red bell pepper, sliced (optional)
    • 1 small onion, sliced (optional)
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
    • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.

2. Cook the Sausage:

  • In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.

3. Cook the Shrimp:

  • In the same skillet, add the shrimp. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until the shrimp are pink and cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside with the sausage.

4. Stir-Fry the Vegetables:

  • Add a bit more oil to the skillet if needed. Add the broccoli florets, sliced bell pepper, and onion (if using). Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

5. Combine Everything:

  • Return the cooked sausage and shrimp to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the mixture. Stir everything together until well coated with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

6. Serve:

  • Serve the honey garlic shrimp, sausage, and broccoli over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.

Tips:

  • Protein Variation: You can substitute the shrimp with chicken or tofu for a different protein option.
  • Vegetable Variation: Feel free to add or substitute vegetables like snap peas, carrots, or zucchini.
