Simple Creamy Vanilla Pudding

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Optional: Whipped cream and fresh berries for garnish

Instructions:

1. Combine Dry Ingredients:

  • In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt.

2. Add Milk:

  • Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps.

3. Cook the Pudding:

  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to thicken and comes to a gentle boil.
  • Continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes while stirring, until the pudding is thick and creamy.

4. Add Flavor:

  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and butter until fully melted and incorporated.

5. Cool and Serve:

  • Pour the pudding into individual serving dishes.
  • Cover the surface of the pudding with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming, and let it cool at room temperature.
  • Once cool, refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours or until fully chilled.

6. Garnish:
