King’s Hawaiian Cheesecake Danish combines the soft, sweet flavor of King’s Hawaiian rolls with a creamy cheesecake filling. This easy-to-make treat is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert! Here’s how to create it:

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (12 rolls) King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)

For the Glaze (optional):

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Rolls

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Carefully slice the King’s Hawaiian rolls horizontally to create a top and bottom layer, but don’t separate the individual rolls. Place the bottom layer on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 2: Make the Cheesecake Filling

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract together until smooth and creamy.
  2. Spread the cheesecake mixture evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.

Step 3: Create the Danish

  1. Place the top layer of the Hawaiian rolls back over the cheesecake filling.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk to make an egg wash. Lightly brush the top of the rolls with the egg wash to give them a golden finish.

Step 4: Bake the Danish

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheesecake filling is set.
  2. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before adding the glaze.

Step 5: Make the Glaze (optional)

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add more milk, one teaspoon at a time, until it reaches your desired consistency.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the top of the warm rolls.

Step 6: Serve

  1. Slice the rolls along their original lines and serve warm for a sweet, creamy, and indulgent treat.

Tips:

  • You can add fruit toppings like fresh strawberries or blueberries on top of the cheesecake layer before baking for added flavor.
  • For a more festive touch, sprinkle some cinnamon sugar over the egg wash before baking.
