Crockpot Chicken & Gravy

Posted on September 30, 2024
Here’s an easy and comforting recipe for Crockpot Chicken & Gravy. It’s perfect for busy days when you want a hearty meal with minimal effort!

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 2 packets (0.87 oz each) chicken gravy mix
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (optional, for creamier gravy)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits (for serving)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Crockpot:

  • Lightly grease your crockpot with cooking spray or a little oil to prevent sticking.

2. Mix the Gravy:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the chicken gravy packets, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and paprika (if using).

3. Add the Chicken:

  • Place the chicken breasts (or thighs) in the crockpot in a single layer.
  • Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken, ensuring all pieces are covered with the gravy.

4. Cook:

  • Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F (74°C).

5. Shred the Chicken (Optional):

  • Once the chicken is done, you can leave the chicken breasts whole or shred them using two forks for a pulled-chicken style dish. Shredding allows the chicken to absorb more of the gravy flavor.

6. Add Sour Cream (Optional):

  • For a richer, creamier gravy, stir in the sour cream at the end of the cooking time. Let it warm through for 5-10 minutes before serving.

7. Serve:

  • Serve the chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or with biscuits. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley.

Enjoy your Crockpot Chicken & Gravy! It’s a comforting and flavorful dish that pairs well with your favorite sides for an easy, satisfying meal.
