Puff Pastry Rolls with Ham, Cheese, and Garlic

Here’s a delicious and easy recipe for Puff Pastry Rolls with Ham, Cheese, and Garlic—perfect for a snack or appetizer!

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought, thawed if frozen)
  • 4 oz cooked ham, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your favorite cheese)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Prepare the puff pastry:
    • Unroll the puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface.
    • Brush the pastry with melted butter using a pastry brush or spoon.
    • Sprinkle the minced garlic evenly over the buttered pastry.
  3. Layer the filling:
    • Lay the sliced ham evenly across the entire surface of the puff pastry.
    • Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the ham, leaving a small border along the edges.
    • Season with a little salt and pepper, if desired.
  4. Roll the pastry:
    • Carefully roll the puff pastry sheet into a tight log, starting from one edge. You can roll it lengthwise or from one of the shorter sides, depending on the size of the rolls you want.
    • Once rolled, use a sharp knife to slice the roll into 1-inch (2.5 cm) pieces.
  5. Prepare for baking:
    • Place the sliced rolls onto the prepared baking sheet, spaced a little apart.
    • Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden and puffed up.
  7. Serve:
    • Allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes before serving.
    • Optionally, sprinkle with fresh parsley for a bit of color and flavor.
