Angel Beef Casserole sounds like a comforting and savory dish! This casserole combines ground beef, seasonings, and a creamy, cheesy base to create a hearty meal that the whole family will love. Here’s a delicious and easy recipe for you to try:

Angel Beef Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 package (about 12 oz) frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, etc.)
  • 1 package (about 8 oz) cooked angel hair pasta (or another pasta of your choice)
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
  • 2 tbsp butter (optional, for a golden topping)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Ground Beef:
    • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.
    • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes, until softened and fragrant.
  2. Prepare the Casserole Mixture:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef and onion mixture with the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, thyme, and half of the shredded cheese. Stir until well combined.
    • Add the frozen mixed vegetables and the cooked angel hair pasta to the bowl, and mix gently to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Assemble the Casserole:
    • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter. Transfer the beef and pasta mixture into the dish and spread it out evenly.
    • Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese over the top of the casserole.
    • If you like a crispy topping, sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the cheese. You can also melt 2 tbsp of butter and drizzle it over the breadcrumbs for extra flavor and crispiness.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly, and the casserole is heated through.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving. Serve hot and enjoy this comforting, cheesy, and savory dish!

Tips:

  • Vegetable Variations: You can swap the mixed vegetables for any of your favorite veggies, like green beans, mushrooms, or broccoli.
  • Cheese Options: Try mixing different cheeses like mozzarella, Monterey Jack, or even a blend for added flavor.
  • Make Ahead: You can prepare this casserole ahead of time, cover it, and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours before baking. Just add an extra 10-15 minutes to the baking time if cooking from cold.

This Angel Beef Casserole is hearty, cheesy, and perfect for a cozy dinner. The combination of beef, pasta, and creamy sauce makes it a great weeknight meal or a dish to serve to a crowd.

How does that sound? Would you give this casserole a try?
