Slap Ya Momma Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional but adds great flavor)
  • 1 cup whole milk, at room temperature
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan or tube pan.

  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. Cream the butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. Add the eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Make sure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

  5. Add the extracts: Stir in the vanilla extract and almond extract (if using) until well combined.

  6. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk: Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture in three parts, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix each addition until just combined—be careful not to overmix.

  7. Pour into the pan: Pour the batter into the prepared bundt or tube pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

  8. Bake: Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, or until a toothpick or cake tester inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. If the top starts to brown too quickly, you can loosely cover it with aluminum foil during the last 20 minutes of baking.

  9. Cool: Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes, then invert it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

  10. Serve: Once cooled, dust the pound cake with powdered sugar, if desired, and slice it up to serve.
