Here’s a homemade Doritos Nacho Cheese Chips recipe that gets very close to the original flavor using real ingredients. It uses corn tortillas as the base and a custom seasoning blend to mimic that signature Doritos taste.


🌽 Homemade Doritos Nacho Cheese Chips Recipe

🧂 Seasoning Blend (Nacho Cheese Flavor):

  • ½ cup cheddar cheese powder (can be found online or in bulk spice stores)

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp sugar

  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

  • ¼ tsp citric acid or lemon zest (for tanginess—citric acid mimics the original best)

🌮 Chips Base:

  • 10 small corn tortillas

  • 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil (for brushing or frying)


🔪 Instructions:

1. Make the Chips:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) if baking, or heat oil in a pan if frying.

  • Cut each corn tortilla into 6 wedges (like pizza slices).

  • For baked chips: Lightly brush with oil on both sides, lay flat on a baking sheet, and bake for 10–15 minutes until golden and crispy.

  • For fried chips: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C), fry chips in batches for 1–2 minutes, then drain on paper towels.

2. Apply Seasoning:

  • While chips are still warm and slightly oily, place them in a large bowl.

  • Sprinkle the seasoning mix over the chips, tossing gently but thoroughly to coat evenly.

  • For extra cheesy flavor, add a little nutritional yeast to the seasoning blend.

  • Store in an airtight container to maintain crunch for up to 5 days.
