Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

🍽️ Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

📝 Ingredients:

  • 1 (4–6 lb) bone-in or boneless turkey breast, thawed if frozen

  • 3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

  • 1 ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning

  • 1 cup chicken or turkey broth

  • Optional: ½ onion, 2–3 garlic cloves, 1 lemon, and fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme) for aromatics


🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Prep the turkey:

  • Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels.

  • In a small bowl, mix salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme.

  • Rub the turkey all over with olive oil or butter, then coat generously with the seasoning blend.

2. Add to the slow cooker:

  • Pour broth into the bottom of the slow cooker.

  • Add optional aromatics (onion wedges, garlic cloves, lemon slices, fresh herbs).

  • Place turkey breast skin-side up on top (on a trivet or bed of veggies if you want to lift it slightly).

3. Cook:

  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, or until internal temp reaches 165°F (74°C) at the thickest part.

4. Optional: Crisp the skin (highly recommended):

  • Transfer the cooked turkey breast to a baking sheet.

  • Broil on HIGH for 5–8 minutes, watching closely, until the skin is golden and crispy.

5. Rest and serve:

  • Let rest 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve with gravy or pan juices.


🥄 Gravy (Optional but Delicious):

Use the juices from the slow cooker:

  • Strain and simmer in a saucepan.

  • Add a cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water) and whisk until thickened.


🔁 Variations:

  • Honey Garlic: Add 2 tbsp honey and 3 cloves minced garlic to the broth.

  • Lemon Herb: Rub with lemon zest + rosemary + sage before cooking.

  • Boneless Turkey Breast: Cook time will be slightly shorter—check internal temp early.
