Here’s a Cinnamon Roll Apple “Lasagna” recipe—a fun, sweet twist on a classic comfort food. This dish layers gooey cinnamon rolls with tender apples and a creamy filling to create a decadent dessert that tastes like apple pie meets cinnamon roll casserole.

Ingredients

For the Layers:

  • 2 cans (8-count) refrigerated cinnamon rolls (with icing)

  • 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

Cream Cheese Filling (Optional but delicious):

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional Toppings:

  • Reserved icing from cinnamon rolls

  • Caramel sauce

  • Chopped pecans or walnuts


Instructions

  1. Prep the Apples:

    • In a bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Set aside to let them soften slightly.

  2. Make the Cream Cheese Filling (Optional):

    • Beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Set aside.

  3. Prepare Cinnamon Roll Base:

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9” baking dish.

    • Open the cinnamon rolls and separate. Flatten each roll slightly with your hands or a rolling pin.

    • Press a layer of flattened rolls into the bottom of the dish, pinching seams together to form a crust.

  4. Assemble the “Lasagna”:

    • Layer 1: Spread half of the cream cheese filling over the cinnamon roll base (if using).

    • Add a layer of half the apple mixture.

    • Layer 2: Place another layer of flattened cinnamon rolls over the apples.

    • Spread remaining cream cheese filling (optional) and top with the rest of the apple mixture.

    • Finish with a final layer of flattened cinnamon rolls.

  5. Bake:

    • Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25 minutes.

    • Remove foil and bake uncovered for another 10–15 minutes, until golden and bubbly.

  6. Finish & Serve:

    • Let it cool slightly. Drizzle with reserved icing and caramel sauce.

    • Top with nuts if desired.


📝 Tips:

  • Want extra flavor? Mix 1 tbsp of apple butter into the cream cheese layer.

  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate treat.
