For the Filling:
-
4 sausage patties or bacon strips
-
4 eggs
-
4 slices of American or cheddar cheese
🔸 Instructions:
1. Make the Muffin “Buns”
These are maple pancake muffins that mimic the sweet McGriddle taste.
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Grease a muffin top pan, whoopie pie pan, or a wide cupcake/muffin tin.
-
In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, melted butter, and maple syrup.
-
Combine wet and dry ingredients. Don’t overmix.
-
Pour batter into molds (should make about 8 muffin tops).
-
Optionally sprinkle some maple sugar crystals on top.
-
Bake for ~10–12 minutes until golden and springy.
-
Let cool slightly.
2. Prepare the Fillings
-
Cook sausage patties or bacon until crisp.
-
Fry or scramble eggs in a round mold for sandwich-friendly shape.
-
Add cheese slice on top of hot egg or meat so it melts.
3. Assemble
-
Place one maple muffin “bun” on the bottom.
-
Add sausage or bacon, then egg, then cheese.
-
Top with second muffin.
-
Optionally drizzle extra maple syrup between layers.
🔸 Tips:
-
For a frozen version, wrap individually and freeze. Reheat in microwave or toaster oven.
-
Want to mimic McDonald’s more? Add maple flavoring or syrup into the egg for extra sweetness.
