Garlic steak and potato foil packets

Garlic steak and potato foil packets are a delicious and convenient way to prepare a complete meal with minimal cleanup. These packets are perfect for grilling, baking, or even campfire cooking. Here’s a recipe for making garlic steak and potato foil packets:Ingredients:

  • 4 New York strip steaks or your choice of steak, about 8-10 ounces each
  • 4 cups baby potatoes, quartered or sliced into rounds
  • 1 cup green beans, trimmed and halved
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the minced garlic, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, and olive oil. Mix to create a garlic-herb marinade.
  3. Season the steaks with salt and black pepper to taste, then brush them with the garlic-herb marinade.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the baby potatoes and green beans. Drizzle with the remaining garlic-herb marinade and toss to coat the vegetables.
  5. Lay out four large pieces of heavy-duty aluminum foil (about 12×18 inches each).
  6. Divide the potato and green bean mixture among the foil pieces, placing them in the center.
  7. Place one seasoned steak on top of each vegetable pile.
  8. Optionally, sprinkle the steaks with grated Parmesan cheese for extra flavor.
  9. Seal the foil packets tightly by bringing the long sides of the foil together and folding them over the steak and vegetables. Fold and crimp the edges to create a sealed packet.
  10. Place the foil packets on the grill or in the preheated oven.

Grilling Instructions:

  • Grill the foil packets over medium-high heat for about 12-15 minutes for medium-rare steak, or longer for your desired level of doneness.

Baking Instructions:

  • Bake the foil packets in the oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the steak reaches your desired level of doneness.
  1. Carefully open the foil packets (watch for steam) and check the doneness of the steak with a meat thermometer. It should register your desired level of doneness, such as 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve the garlic steak and potato foil packets directly in the foil or transfer to serving plates.
