Swiss Chicken is a delightful dish featuring tender chicken breasts topped with ham, Swiss cheese, and a flavorful sauce. Here’s a simple recipe:

Swiss Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 slices ham or prosciutto
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • Chopped parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
    • Place a slice of Swiss cheese and a slice of ham on each chicken breast.
  3. Coating and Baking:
    • In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and paprika.
    • Dip each chicken breast into the melted butter, then coat them thoroughly in the flour mixture.
    • Place the coated chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Make the Sauce:
    • In a saucepan, combine the remaining melted butter, chicken broth, and heavy cream. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring continuously until slightly thickened.
  5. Pour Sauce and Bake:
    • Pour the sauce over the chicken breasts in the baking dish.
  6. Bake:
    • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish and Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
    • Serve the Swiss Chicken hot, accompanied by your favorite sides like rice, roasted vegetables, or salad.

This Swiss Chicken recipe creates a deliciously cheesy and savory dish that’s perfect for a comforting family dinner. Adjust the seasoning or add herbs for more flavor variations.
