Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup

Posted on January 23, 2024

The “Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup” is a popular recipe often associated with certain weight-loss diets. While there is no scientific evidence to support the idea of a specific soup miraculously burning fat, this soup is low in calories and can be a nutritious addition to a balanced diet. Here’s a basic recipe for Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup:

Ingredients:

  • 1 small head of cabbage, shredded
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 bell peppers, diced (any color)
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 3 celery stalks, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes (undrained)
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 8 cups vegetable or chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Optional: Cayenne pepper or hot sauce for added heat
  • Optional: Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Vegetables:
    • Chop all the vegetables as specified.
  2. Cook Onions and Garlic:
    • In a large pot, sauté the diced onions and minced garlic in a bit of olive oil until they are softened.
  3. Add Vegetables:
    • Add the shredded cabbage, diced bell peppers, sliced carrots, and celery to the pot. Stir and cook for a few minutes until the vegetables start to soften.
  4. Add Tomatoes and Tomato Paste:
    • Pour in the diced tomatoes with their juice and add the tomato paste. Mix well to combine.
  5. Pour in Broth:
    • Add the vegetable or chicken broth to the pot.
  6. Season:
    • Season the soup with dried oregano, dried basil, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Add bay leaves for flavor.
  7. Bring to a Boil:
    • Bring the soup to a boil, then reduce the heat to simmer. Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
  8. Adjust Seasoning:
    • Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning if needed. If you like it spicy, you can add cayenne pepper or hot sauce.
  9. Serve:
    • Ladle the cabbage fat-burning soup into bowls. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
  10. Enjoy:
    • Enjoy this low-calorie, nutrient-packed soup as part of a balanced and healthy diet.

Keep in mind that while this soup can be a healthy addition to your diet, it’s essential to maintain a varied and balanced eating plan for overall health. It’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or a nutritionist before making significant changes to your diet.
