Here’s a simple recipe for a spicy dumpling soup that’s both comforting and flavorful:

Ingredients:

For the Dumplings:

  • 1 package store-bought dumpling wrappers (or make your own)
  • 1/2 pound ground pork or chicken
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Soup:

  • 6 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 carrots, thinly sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste or sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sliced green onions (for garnish)

Instructions:

Making the Dumplings:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork or chicken with chopped green onions, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  2. Take a small spoonful of the mixture and place it in the center of a dumpling wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water and fold it over to create a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges to seal the dumpling. Repeat until all filling is used.
  3. Place the assembled dumplings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Making the Soup:

  1. In a large pot, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion, minced garlic, and sliced ginger. Sauté until fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and bring it to a simmer.
  3. Add the sliced carrots and celery to the simmering broth. Let them cook for about 5-7 minutes until they begin to soften.
  4. Once the vegetables are tender, add the soy sauce and chili paste or sriracha to the soup. Stir to combine.
  5. Carefully drop the dumplings into the simmering soup. Allow them to cook for about 8-10 minutes, or until they float to the surface and the filling is cooked through.
  6. Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Ladle the spicy dumpling soup into serving bowls. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and sliced green onions.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy your flavorful and comforting spicy dumpling soup!

Feel free to adjust the level of spiciness according to your taste preferences by adding more or less chili paste or sriracha. You can also add other vegetables or tofu to the soup for additional flavor and texture.
