Potatoes DelMonico

Posted on March 25, 2024

Potatoes Delmonico is a classic dish that features thinly sliced potatoes baked with cream, cheese, and sometimes breadcrumbs. Here’s a simple recipe to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar, Gruyere, or Parmesan)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh thyme or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, shredded cheese, minced garlic, melted butter, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Arrange a layer of thinly sliced potatoes in the bottom of the prepared baking dish, overlapping slightly.
  4. Pour a portion of the cream and cheese mixture over the potatoes, spreading it out evenly to cover them.
  5. Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes and cream mixture, finishing with a layer of cream mixture on top.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
  7. Remove the foil from the baking dish and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Remove the Potatoes Delmonico from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley, if desired, before serving.
  10. Serve the Potatoes Delmonico hot as a delicious side dish alongside roasted meats, poultry, or fish.

Enjoy the creamy, cheesy goodness of Potatoes Delmonico as a comforting and flavorful addition to your meal!
