Southern brown sugar pie recipe

Posted on March 27, 2024

Southern Brown Sugar Pie is a delightful dessert with a rich, caramel-like flavor. Here’s a recipe to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pie crust (homemade or store-bought), unbaked
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, flour, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  3. Pour the brown sugar filling into the unbaked pie crust, spreading it out evenly.
  4. Place the pie dish on a baking sheet (to catch any potential spills) and bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
  5. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
  6. Serve slices of Southern Brown Sugar Pie warm or at room temperature, optionally topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
  7. Enjoy this deliciously sweet and indulgent dessert!

Southern Brown Sugar Pie is perfect for any occasion, from family gatherings to holiday celebrations. Its simplicity and rich flavor make it a favorite among dessert lovers.
