Cheesy Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes

Cheesy Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes are a delicious twist on the classic sloppy joe, combining the flavors of garlic bread and melty cheese with savory, saucy ground beef. This recipe is perfect for a quick and satisfying meal that will be a hit with both kids and adults.

Ingredients:

  • For the Sloppy Joes:
    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 small onion, finely chopped
    • 1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 cup tomato sauce
    • 1/4 cup ketchup
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon mustard
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • For the Garlic Bread:
    • 1 loaf French bread or 4-6 large hamburger buns
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
    • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Sloppy Joe Filling:
    • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.
    • Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
    • Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
  2. Prepare the Garlic Bread:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, and dried parsley until well combined.
    • Slice the French bread in half lengthwise or split the hamburger buns. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
    • Place the bread on a baking sheet, cut side up. Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the butter is melted.
  3. Assemble the Cheesy Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes:
    • Remove the garlic bread from the oven and sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
    • Return the bread to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  4. Serve:
    • Spoon the sloppy joe mixture over the cheesy garlic bread.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
    • Serve the cheesy garlic bread sloppy joes open-faced or as sandwiches.

Tips:

  • Bread: French bread creates a hearty, crispy base, while hamburger buns offer a more traditional sloppy joe experience.
  • Cheese: Feel free to experiment with different cheeses, such as cheddar or provolone, for a different flavor.
  • Storage: Leftover sloppy joe mixture can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat before serving.

Enjoy your Cheesy Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes, a perfect fusion of comfort food favorites!
