Air fryer fish

Posted on September 29, 2023

Air frying fish is a great way to achieve a crispy exterior without deep-frying in a lot of oil. Here’s a simple recipe for air fryer fish:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound white fish fillets (such as tilapia, cod, or halibut)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (you can use panko for extra crispiness)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Breading:
    • In a shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat the Fish:
    • Brush each fish fillet with a thin layer of olive oil.
    • Dip each fillet into the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs onto the fish to adhere.
  4. Arrange in the Air Fryer Basket:
    • Place the breaded fish fillets in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each piece for proper air circulation.
  5. Air Fry:
    • Cook the fish in the air fryer for 10-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets. Flip the fillets halfway through the cooking time to ensure even crisping.
  6. Check for Doneness:
    • The fish is done when it flakes easily with a fork and has a golden-brown, crispy coating.
  7. Serve:
    • Remove the fish from the air fryer and serve immediately with lemon wedges.
  8. Optional: Tartar Sauce:
    • Serve with tartar sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips:

  • Don’t overcrowd the basket: It’s important to leave space between the fillets for proper air circulation. This ensures that the fish cooks evenly and gets crispy all around.
  • Adjust cooking time: The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the fillets. Thicker fillets may require a few extra minutes.
  • Experiment with seasoning: Feel free to customize the seasoning mix to your liking. You can add herbs, spices, or even a pinch of cayenne for some heat.

This air fryer fish recipe provides a healthier alternative to deep-frying while still delivering a delicious and crispy result.
