Beef Tikka Boti is a popular Pakistani and Indian dish, featuring marinated pieces of beef skewered and grilled or baked to perfection. Here’s a recipe to make Beef Tikka Boti at home:

Beef Tikka Boti

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or beef tenderloin, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoons garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika or Kashmiri red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro or mint leaves, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Skewers (if grilling)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Marinade:
    • In a large bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, vegetable oil, ginger paste, garlic paste, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, paprika or Kashmiri red chili powder, garam masala, black pepper, salt, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Mix well to form a smooth marinade.
  2. Marinate the Beef:
    • Add the beef cubes to the marinade and toss until all pieces are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer to a ziplock bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight for the best flavor.
  3. Skewer the Beef (if grilling):
    • If grilling, preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Thread the marinated beef pieces onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
  4. Grill or Bake:
    • Grill the skewers over medium-high heat for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the beef is cooked through and has nice char marks on the outside. Alternatively, you can bake the skewers in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove the beef tikka boti from the skewers and transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped cilantro or mint leaves and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.

Tips:

  • Meat Selection: Use tender cuts of beef like sirloin or tenderloin for best results.
  • Grilling Tips: Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before threading to prevent them from burning on the grill.
  • Serve with: Enjoy beef tikka boti with naan bread, rice, salad, and a side of mint yogurt sauce (raita).
