Better Than Anything Bars

Here’s a “Better Than Anything” Bars recipe — a rich, decadent dessert that combines chocolate, caramel, and a buttery base. Think of it as a layered treat similar to millionaire’s shortbread, but easier and even more indulgent.


🍫 Better Than Anything Bars

Ingredients:

Crust Layer

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 15 full sheets)

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)

Caramel Layer

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Chocolate Layer

  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Optional: Sea salt for topping or chopped nuts


🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Make the Crust

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Mix melted butter, graham cracker crumbs, and brown sugar in a bowl until well combined.

  • Press the mixture firmly into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Bake for 8–10 minutes. Let it cool slightly.

2. Make the Caramel Layer

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, butter, and salt.

  • Stir constantly until thick and golden (about 8–10 minutes).

  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

  • Pour over the baked crust and spread evenly.

3. Add the Chocolate Layer

  • Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the hot caramel.

  • Let them sit for 2–3 minutes to melt, then spread gently with a spatula until smooth.

4. Chill and Serve

  • Optional: Sprinkle with flaky sea salt or chopped nuts.

  • Chill in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours until firm.

  • Cut into bars and serve!


💡 Tips:

  • For an extra crunch, add a layer of chopped toffee bits or crushed pretzels on top of the chocolate.

  • You can use store-bought caramel sauce in a pinch, but homemade is richer and holds better when sliced.
