Bobby Flay Salisbury Steak

🧑‍🍳 Ingredients (serves 4)

For the patties:

  • 1 lb ground chuck (Flay prefers the flavor and fat‑content)

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 Tbsp grated Parmesan 

  • 2 Tbsp breadcrumbs

  • 1 tsp crushed garlic

  • Salt & black pepper

For the mushroom gravy:

  • 2 Tbsp canola (or vegetable) oil

  • ½ white onion, sliced

  • 10–12 cremini mushrooms, quartered

  • 1 Tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 cup (≈240 ml) beef broth

  • 2 Tbsp half‑and‑half (or substitute cream

  • Optional: splash of mustard or oregano (common in fan versions)


🍳 Cooking Instructions

  1. Mix & shape patties
    In a bowl, combine ground beef, egg, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, garlic, salt & pepper. Shape into four oblong patties.

  2. Brown patties
    Heat oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Sear patties 3–4 min per side until golden (medium doneness). Remove to a plate.

  3. Prepare gravy
    In the same pan, add onions and mushrooms, sauté 4–5 min. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire, and beef broth. Simmer ~3 min
    Stir in half‑and‑half. Return patties and their juices to the pan to warm and get coated.

  4. Serve
    Spoon gravy over steaks. Garnish with parsley if you like.
