Making a delicious Caramel Macchiato Ice Cream is a delightful treat that combines the flavors of coffee, caramel, and creamy ice cream. Here’s a simple recipe to create this indulgent dessert at home:

Caramel Macchiato Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup instant coffee granules
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ice Cream Base:
    • In a medium saucepan, heat the heavy cream and whole milk over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Do not boil.
  2. Dissolve Coffee and Sugar:
    • In a separate bowl, mix the instant coffee granules with 1/4 cup of hot water until dissolved. Add this coffee mixture to the heated cream and milk mixture.
  3. Add Sugar and Caramel:
    • Stir in the granulated sugar, caramel sauce, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Continue stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Chill the Mixture:
    • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature. Once cooled, cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, until thoroughly chilled.
  5. Churn the Ice Cream:
    • Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  6. Add Caramel Swirl (Optional):
    • If desired, during the last few minutes of churning, drizzle additional caramel sauce into the ice cream machine to create a caramel swirl effect.
  7. Transfer and Freeze:
    • Transfer the churned ice cream into a freezer-safe container. Smooth the top with a spatula. Drizzle more caramel sauce on top if desired.
  8. Freeze Until Firm:
    • Cover the container with a lid or plastic wrap and freeze the ice cream for at least 4-6 hours, or until firm.
  9. Serve:
    • Scoop the caramel macchiato ice cream into bowls or cones. Drizzle with extra caramel sauce before serving for added decadence.

Tips:

  • Caramel Sauce: Use store-bought caramel sauce or make your own homemade caramel sauce for a richer flavor.
  • Coffee Intensity: Adjust the amount of instant coffee granules based on your preference for a stronger or milder coffee flavor.
  • Storage: Store leftover ice cream in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. Allow it to soften slightly at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping.
