Cheese, Potato, and Smoked Sausage Casserole

Posted on November 2, 2023
Cheese, potato, and smoked sausage casserole is a hearty and satisfying dish that’s perfect for a comforting family meal. Here’s a recipe to make this delicious casserole:Ingredients:

  • 4 cups sliced potatoes (about 4-5 medium-sized potatoes)
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.75 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced potatoes, sliced smoked sausage, and chopped onion.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Pour the soup mixture over the potato, sausage, and onion mixture and toss to coat everything evenly.
  5. Spread half of the mixture in the greased baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the layer.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining potato and sausage mixture and cheese.
  8. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and continue to bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the casserole is hot and bubbly, and the top is golden brown.
  10. If the top isn’t browned to your liking, you can broil the casserole for a few minutes, but watch it closely to prevent burning.
  11. Remove the casserole from the oven, garnish with chopped fresh parsley or green onions if desired, and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Serve your cheese, potato, and smoked sausage casserole as a hearty and comforting main dish, and enjoy the flavorful combination of potatoes, sausage, and cheese. It’s perfect for a family dinner or potluck gathering!
