Cheesesteak egg rolls are a delightful fusion of classic cheesesteak flavors wrapped in crispy egg roll wrappers. Here’s a simple recipe for making cheesesteak egg rolls:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound thinly sliced steak (such as ribeye or sirloin)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 8 slices provolone cheese, cut into strips
  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Optional dipping sauce:

  • Ketchup
  • Sriracha mayo (mix sriracha sauce with mayonnaise)
  • Ranch dressing

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Steak:
    • Season the thinly sliced steak with salt and pepper to taste.
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak slices and cook until browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Cook the Vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and green bell pepper. Cook until the vegetables are softened and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Assemble the Egg Rolls:
    • Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface in a diamond shape, with one corner pointing toward you.
    • Place a strip of provolone cheese in the center of the wrapper.
    • Top the cheese with a portion of the cooked steak and caramelized vegetables.
  4. Roll the Egg Rolls:
    • Fold the bottom corner of the wrapper over the filling.
    • Fold the side corners toward the center.
    • Lightly moisten the remaining corner with water and roll up the wrapper tightly to seal the egg roll.
  5. Fry the Egg Rolls:
    • In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
    • Carefully place the egg rolls in the hot oil, seam side down, and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
    • Remove the egg rolls from the oil and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the cheesesteak egg rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauces, such as ketchup, sriracha mayo, or ranch dressing.

These cheesesteak egg rolls make a delicious appetizer or snack for any occasion. Enjoy the crispy exterior and savory filling bursting with classic cheesesteak flavors!
