Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks

Cheesy garlic breadsticks are a popular appetizer or side dish known for their savory, cheesy, and garlicky goodness. Here’s a recipe to make delicious cheesy garlic breadsticks:

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 1 pound (about 3 1/2 cups) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Topping:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a baking stone or baking sheet in the oven while it preheats.

2. Prepare the Dough:

  1. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangular shape, about 10×14 inches. You can adjust the size to your preference.
  2. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a piece of parchment paper.

3. Season the Dough:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, 2 cloves of minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Brush the olive oil mixture evenly over the surface of the dough.

4. Cut the Dough:

  1. Use a pizza cutter or a sharp knife to cut the seasoned dough into even strips, about 1-1.5 inches wide.
  2. Twist each strip to create a twisted breadstick shape.

5. Bake the Breadsticks:

  1. Slide the parchment paper with the breadsticks onto the preheated baking stone or baking sheet in the oven.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown and slightly crisp on the outside.

6. Prepare the Topping:

  1. While the breadsticks are baking, in a small bowl, mix together the melted butter and the remaining 2 cloves of minced garlic.
  2. After removing the breadsticks from the oven, brush the garlic butter mixture over the hot breadsticks while they are still on the baking sheet.

7. Add the Cheese:

  1. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the hot breadsticks.
  2. Return the breadsticks to the oven and bake for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

8. Garnish and Serve:

Sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the cheesy garlic breadsticks as a garnish.

Serve the breadsticks hot and enjoy them as a delectable appetizer or side dish. You can also serve them with marinara or garlic dipping sauce for extra flavor.
