Here’s a recipe for Cheesy Mozzarella Biscuits that are soft, buttery, and packed with gooey cheese:

Cheesy Mozzarella Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or whole milk with 1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, garlic powder, oregano, and basil.
  3. Cut in the Butter:
    • Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture.
    • Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add the Cheese:
    • Stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese until evenly distributed.
  5. Mix the Dough:
    • Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently with a fork until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
  6. Shape the Biscuits:
    • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
    • Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits. Gather the scraps and repeat until all the dough is used.
    • Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Top with Parmesan (Optional):
    • Sprinkle the tops of the biscuits with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
  8. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
  9. Serve:
    • Serve warm and enjoy your cheesy, buttery biscuits!
