Chicken and Biscuit Bake

Posted on November 27, 2024
A Chicken and Biscuit Bake is a comforting, easy-to-make casserole dish that combines tender chicken, creamy sauce, and buttery biscuits. It’s a great dish for busy nights or family dinners! Here’s a simple recipe for you:

Ingredients:

  • For the Chicken and Sauce:
    • 3 cups cooked chicken (shredded or cubed, about 2 chicken breasts)
    • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup (or homemade version)
    • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt (optional for creaminess)
    • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or milk for a creamier sauce)
    • 1 cup frozen peas (optional)
    • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Biscuit Topping:
    • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (or use homemade biscuit dough if preferred)
    • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing on top of the biscuits)
    • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley or Italian seasoning (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Chicken Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the cooked chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream (if using), chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, peas, and shredded cheese. Stir everything together until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Assemble the Bake: Spread the chicken mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, smoothing the top evenly.
  4. Add Biscuit Topping: Open the can of biscuits and arrange the uncooked biscuits on top of the chicken mixture. It’s okay if they overlap a little; they will expand while baking.
  5. Bake: Brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter and sprinkle with parsley or Italian seasoning if desired. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the sauce is bubbling around the edges.
  6. Serve: Let it sit for a few minutes to cool slightly before serving. Scoop up portions of the casserole with biscuit topping, and enjoy!

Variations:

  • Add Veggies: You can mix in other veggies like carrots, green beans, or corn.
  • Different Biscuits: Try using cheddar biscuits or garlic biscuits for extra flavor.
  • Crispy Topping: For extra crunch, sprinkle some breadcrumbs or parmesan cheese on top before baking.

This dish is versatile, easy, and a family favorite!
