Let’s talk Chicken Subs — juicy, flavorful, and totally customizable! Whether you’re going for spicy, cheesy, saucy, or grilled, here’s a solid base recipe plus options to make your perfect sub.


🥖🔥 Classic Chicken Sub Sandwich

🧾 Ingredients (Makes 2–3 Subs)

  • 2–3 sub rolls (hoagie rolls, baguettes, or ciabatta)

  • 2 cups cooked chicken (grilled, shredded, or breaded)

  • 1/2 cup marinara, buffalo sauce, or mayo – your choice of sauce!

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, provolone, or cheddar)

  • Toppings:

    • Lettuce

    • Tomato slices

    • Pickles or onions

    • Jalapeños (optional)

  • Butter or olive oil, for toasting

  • Optional: garlic powder, Italian seasoning


👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prep the Chicken

  • Use pre-cooked chicken, leftover rotisserie, or sauté raw chicken breast/thighs with seasoning (salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika).

  • If going spicy: Toss cooked chicken in buffalo sauce.

  • If going cheesy: Mix with marinara sauce and top with mozzarella for a Chicken Parmesan-style sub.


2. Toast the Rolls

  • Slice rolls and spread a bit of butter or olive oil inside.

  • Toast in a pan or oven until golden and crisp (optional: sprinkle with garlic powder or Italian herbs).


3. Assemble

  • Layer sauce on the toasted roll.

  • Add warm chicken, then cheese.

  • Pile on lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, or whatever you like.


4. Melt It (Optional)

  • If using cheese, place the assembled sub under the broiler for 2–3 minutes to melt everything together.


5. Serve

  • Slice in half and serve with chips, fries, or salad.
