These Chicken Wings with Mustard Sauce are flavorful, tangy, and perfect for any gathering or as a delicious appetizer. Here’s how to make them:

Ingredients:

Chicken Wings:

  • 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Mustard Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup whole grain mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a bit of heat)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken Wings

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Spray the wire rack with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Season Wings:
    • In a large bowl, combine the chicken wings, olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Toss until the wings are evenly coated.
  3. Bake Wings:
    • Arrange the seasoned chicken wings in a single layer on the wire rack. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, turning once halfway through, until the wings are golden brown and crispy.

Step 2: Make the Mustard Sauce

  1. Combine Ingredients:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, whole grain mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  2. Adjust Seasoning:
    • Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary. You can add more honey for sweetness, more vinegar for tanginess, or more cayenne for heat.

Step 3: Toss Wings in Sauce

  1. Coat Wings:
    • Once the chicken wings are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the mustard sauce over the wings and toss until they are evenly coated.

Step 4: Serve

  1. Serve Immediately:
    • Arrange the wings on a serving platter and garnish with chopped fresh herbs, if desired. Serve immediately with extra mustard sauce on the side for dipping.

Tips:

  • Crispy Wings: For extra crispy wings, you can broil them for an additional 2-3 minutes at the end of the baking time. Just keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
  • Marinating: For more intense flavor, you can marinate the chicken wings in the mustard sauce for a few hours before baking. Just reserve some sauce for tossing after cooking.
  • Grilling: These wings can also be cooked on the grill for a smoky flavor. Grill over medium heat for about 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked.
