CHINESE FRIED CABBAGE WITH SAUSAGE & SHRIMP RECIPE

Here’s a recipe for Chinese Fried Cabbage with Sausage & Shrimp:

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb (225g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb (225g) Chinese sausage (lap cheong), thinly sliced
  • 1 small head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Peel and devein the shrimp.
    • Thinly slice the Chinese sausage.
    • Chop the cabbage, julienne the carrot, and thinly slice the red bell pepper.
    • Mince the garlic and ginger.
  2. Cook the Chinese Sausage:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add the sliced Chinese sausage and cook until it starts to brown and release its fat, about 2-3 minutes.
    • Remove the sausage from the wok and set aside.
  3. Cook the Shrimp:
    • In the same wok, add the shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes.
    • Remove the shrimp from the wok and set aside with the sausage.
  4. Stir-fry the Vegetables:
    • Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the wok.
    • Add the garlic and ginger, and stir-fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
    • Add the chopped cabbage, julienned carrot, and sliced red bell pepper. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  5. Combine Everything:
    • Return the cooked sausage and shrimp to the wok with the vegetables.
    • Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Stir well to combine.
    • Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
    • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  6. Serve:
    • Garnish with sliced green onions.
    • Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles if desired.
