CHOCOLATE COVERED DONUTS

Posted on January 26, 2024
Here’s a simple recipe for making chocolate-covered donuts at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

For the Chocolate Glaze:

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Prepare the Donut Batter:
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • In a separate bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and egg. Whisk until well combined.
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  3. Fill the Donut Pan:
    • Transfer the batter to a piping bag or a Ziploc bag with the corner snipped off.
    • Pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  4. Bake the Donuts:
    • Place the donut pan in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly touched.
    • Remove the donut pan from the oven and let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. Make the Chocolate Glaze:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, butter, and corn syrup.
    • Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
    • Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  6. Glaze the Donuts:
    • Dip each cooled donut into the chocolate glaze, allowing any excess glaze to drip off.
    • Place the glazed donuts back on the wire rack to set. You can also sprinkle with toppings like sprinkles, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut while the glaze is still wet.
  7. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Once the chocolate glaze has set, your chocolate-covered donuts are ready to be enjoyed!
    • Serve the donuts with a glass of milk or your favorite hot beverage.

These homemade chocolate-covered donuts are a delightful treat that’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or anytime you’re craving something sweet and indulgent!
