Cottage Cheese Chips are a fun and healthy snack you can easily make at home. They’re crispy, high in protein, and perfect for those looking for a low-carb, nutritious alternative to traditional chips. Here’s a simple recipe to try:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cottage cheese (preferably full-fat for creaminess)
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon flour (optional, for a slightly thicker texture)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil or cooking spray (for greasing)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Prepare the Cottage Cheese Mixture:

    • In a bowl, combine the cottage cheese with the shredded cheese (if using), flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together until well combined. The flour helps with texture, but you can skip it if you prefer a softer consistency.
  3. Form the Chips:

    • Spoon small portions of the cottage cheese mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Use the back of a spoon to spread the mixture into thin, round circles (about the size of a traditional chip). Try to make them as even as possible so they cook evenly.
  4. Bake:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the edges turn golden and crispy. Keep an eye on them to avoid overbaking, as they can burn quickly.
  5. Cool:

    • Once the chips are done, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes. They will become crunchier as they cool down.
  6. Serve:

    • Once cooled, you can break them into smaller pieces or leave them as is, and enjoy your crispy, cottage cheese chips! You can pair them with salsa, guacamole, or any dip of your choice.

Tips:

  • Experiment with flavors: Feel free to add herbs, spices, or even a bit of nutritional yeast for a cheesy, umami kick!
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container for a few days. They are best eaten fresh, but they can still be crispy after storage.
