🍓 Deep-Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Wonton Bites
🕒 Prep Time: 20 min | Cook Time: 10 min | Serves: 20–24 bites
🧾 Ingredients:
-
1 (8 oz) block cream cheese, softened
-
¼ cup powdered sugar
-
½ tsp vanilla extract
-
½ cup diced fresh strawberries (or use strawberry preserves)
-
20–24 wonton wrappers
-
1 egg (for egg wash)
-
Oil for deep frying (vegetable or canola)
Optional for Serving:
-
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
-
Melted chocolate or strawberry sauce (for dipping)
👩🍳 Instructions:
1. Make the filling:
In a bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Gently fold in the diced strawberries. Chill for 10–15 minutes for easier handling.
2. Assemble wontons:
-
Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface.
-
Add about 1 teaspoon of the cheesecake filling in the center.
-
Lightly brush edges with beaten egg.
-
Fold into a triangle or bring all corners to the center and pinch tightly to seal (like a little purse or envelope).
3. Heat oil:
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat 2–3 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).
4. Fry the bites:
Carefully drop wontons into hot oil in batches. Fry for 1–2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
5. Serve:
Dust with powdered sugar while still warm. Serve with melted chocolate, strawberry sauce, or even whipped cream on the side.
✅ Tips:
-
Don’t overfill the wontons to prevent bursting while frying.
-
You can use frozen strawberries, just thaw and drain well before mixing.
-
For a shortcut, use strawberry cream cheese and skip the fresh berries.
