Donut Holes

Posted on September 28, 2023

Keto donut holes are a low-carb, high-fat alternative to traditional donut holes. They are designed to fit within the constraints of a ketogenic diet, which typically involves reducing carbohydrate intake to induce a state of ketosis, where the body burns fat for energy. Here’s a basic recipe for keto donut holes:

Ingredients:

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup coconut flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated erythritol or other keto-friendly sweetener
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Coating (Optional):

  • 1/4 cup granulated erythritol or other keto-friendly sweetener
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, coconut flour, erythritol, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using).
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  5. Form small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) from the dough and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the donut holes are golden brown.
  7. While the donut holes are baking, mix the coating ingredients in a shallow bowl.
  8. Once the donut holes are done baking, allow them to cool for a few minutes. Then, roll each donut hole in the coating mixture until well coated.
  9. Let them cool completely before serving.

Keep in mind that different sweeteners may have different sweetness levels, so you may need to adjust the amount to taste. Additionally, the nutritional content may vary based on specific ingredients and brands used. Always check labels and adjust portions to fit your individual dietary needs on a ketogenic diet.
