Here’s a rich, moist, and nostalgic treat: 🍫 Double Chocolate Coca-Cola Cake – a classic Southern-style cake that’s easy to make and loaded with chocolate flavor.

Ingredients:

For the Cake:
  • 1 cup Coca-Cola (not diet)

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Frosting:
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/3 cup Coca-Cola

  • 3–4 cups powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Make the Cake:

  1. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. Boil Wet Mixture:

    • In a saucepan, combine Coca-Cola, butter, oil, and cocoa powder.

    • Bring to a gentle boil, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.

  3. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda.

  4. Combine:

    • Pour the hot cocoa mixture into the dry ingredients and mix well.

  5. Add Wet Ingredients:

    • Stir in eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla until the batter is smooth.

  6. Bake:

    • Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.


Make the Frosting (While Cake is Baking):

  1. In a saucepan, heat butter, cocoa powder, and Coca-Cola to a gentle boil.

  2. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.

  3. Stir in nuts if using.


Frost the Cake:

  • Pour warm frosting over the warm cake (right out of the oven).

  • Let it soak in and set at room temp or refrigerate for a firmer texture.


🍴 Tips:

  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an old-school soda fountain experience.

  • For an even richer cake, add mini chocolate chips to the batter.
