Eggnog Bread

Posted on December 25, 2023
Eggnog bread is a delightful treat, especially during the holiday season. Here’s a recipe to make a delicious eggnog bread:Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup eggnog
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup rum or bourbon (optional, for a boozy flavor)
  • Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prepare:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground nutmeg until well combined.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients:
    • In another bowl, whisk together the eggnog, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and rum or bourbon (if using) until smooth.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Pour Batter into the Pan:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake:
    • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean. The top should be golden brown.
  7. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the eggnog bread to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Optional Dusting:
    • Once the bread has cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar for an extra touch.
  9. Slice and Enjoy:
    • Slice the eggnog bread and serve it as a festive treat with a cup of coffee, tea, or a glass of eggnog.

This eggnog bread is moist, flavorful, and perfect for enjoying during the holiday season. You can also add chopped nuts, dried fruits, or a glaze on top for added texture and sweetness. Adjust the flavors to suit your taste preferences and enjoy this delightful baked treat!
