Fried Cabbage, Smoked Turkey Bacon & Shrimp

Fried cabbage with smoked turkey bacon and shrimp is a delicious and flavorful dish that combines the sweetness of fried cabbage, the smokiness of turkey bacon, and the savory taste of shrimp. Here’s a recipe to make this mouthwatering dish:Ingredients:

  • 4 cups thinly sliced green cabbage (about 1 small head)
  • 6 slices smoked turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Add the chopped smoked turkey bacon and cook until it becomes crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the bacon from the pan and set it aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the sliced cabbage to the skillet. Sauté the cabbage, stirring frequently, until it wilts and begins to brown, about 10-12 minutes. Season with paprika, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Push the cabbage to the sides of the skillet to create a space in the center. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the center and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque.
  6. Return the cooked turkey bacon to the skillet and toss everything together to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat the bacon.
  7. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and black pepper if needed.
  8. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve hot.
  9. Optionally, serve with lemon wedges for a burst of citrus flavor.
