Ground Beef Mongolian Noodles

This Ground Beef Mongolian Noodles recipe is a quick and delicious dish that’s perfect for a weeknight dinner. With savory ground beef, tender noodles, and a flavorful sauce, it’s sure to become a family favorite.

Ingredients:

  • For the Sauce:
    • 1/2 cup soy sauce
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
    • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
    • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
    • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
    • 4 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • For the Noodles:
    • 8 ounces noodles (spaghetti, lo mein, or rice noodles)
    • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
    • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
    • 1 cup shredded carrots
    • 3 green onions, chopped
    • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
    • Fresh cilantro (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Noodles:
    • Cook the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the Sauce:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, water, cornstarch, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced ginger, garlic, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
  3. Cook the Ground Beef:
    • In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
    • Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks.
    • Drain any excess fat.
  4. Cook the Vegetables:
    • Add the sliced onion, red bell pepper, and shredded carrots to the skillet with the ground beef.
    • Cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Combine and Cook:
    • Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and pour the sauce over the top.
    • Toss everything together until the noodles and beef are well coated in the sauce.
    • Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until everything is heated through and the sauce has thickened.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove from heat and stir in the chopped green onions.
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro.

Tips:

  • Noodle Choice: You can use any type of noodles you prefer, such as spaghetti, lo mein, or rice noodles.
  • Vegetable Variations: Feel free to add other vegetables like broccoli, snow peas, or zucchini.
  • Spice Level: Adjust the amount of crushed red pepper flakes to your desired spice level.
