  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional, for added flavor)

  • Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. If the pastry is too thick, you can roll it out slightly to make it a bit thinner.
  3. Add the Ham and Cheese: Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard (if using) over the puff pastry. Then, layer the ham slices evenly across the pastry, followed by the shredded cheese. Leave a small border around the edges.
  4. Roll the Pastry: Starting from one edge, carefully roll the puff pastry up tightly like a log or jelly roll. Ensure that the seam is on the bottom so it stays closed during baking.
  5. Slice the Pinwheels: Use a sharp knife to slice the rolled pastry into approximately 1-inch wide pinwheels.
  6. Prepare for Baking: Arrange the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart. If desired, brush the tops with a little beaten egg for a golden finish.
