Honey wings with gravy combine the sweet and savory flavors of honey-glazed wings with a rich gravy sauce. Here’s a recipe to make them:

Ingredients:

For the Honey Wings:

  • 2-3 lbs chicken wings, split into drumettes and wingettes
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

1. Marinate the Wings:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken wings to the marinade and toss until they are evenly coated.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the wings and marinade to a large resealable plastic bag.
  4. Marinate the wings in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.

2. Bake the Wings:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
  3. Arrange the marinated wings on the wire rack in a single layer, leaving space between each wing.
  4. Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy, turning halfway through the cooking time.

3. Make the Gravy:

  1. While the wings are baking, prepare the gravy. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the all-purpose flour to create a roux. Cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes until the roux is golden brown and fragrant.
  3. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth, ensuring there are no lumps.
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
  5. Season the gravy with salt and pepper to taste. Keep warm until ready to serve.

4. Serve:

  1. Once the wings are done baking, remove them from the oven and transfer them to a serving platter.
  2. Drizzle the honey wings with the prepared gravy.
  3. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired.
  4. Serve the honey wings with gravy hot as an appetizer or main dish, alongside rice, potatoes, or your favorite side dishes.
