A Honeybun Cinnamon Swirl Loaf Cake is a delightful dessert that combines the flavors of a classic honeybun with a rich cinnamon swirl. This loaf cake is moist, sweet, and perfect for any occasion!

Honeybun Cinnamon Swirl Loaf Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional for extra honey flavor)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Batter:
    • In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. You can use an electric mixer for this step.
    • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the honey, sour cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined (don’t overmix).
  3. Prepare the Cinnamon Swirl:
    In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter until it forms a paste.
  4. Layer the Cake:
    Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly. Spoon the cinnamon swirl mixture over the batter and gently swirl it with a knife or toothpick. Add the remaining batter on top and smooth it out.
  5. Bake the Cake:
    Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Prepare the Glaze:
    While the cake cools, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and honey (if using) until smooth. The glaze should be thick yet pourable.
  7. Glaze the Cake:
    Once the cake is fully cooled, drizzle the glaze generously over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.
