Lemon Pepper Hot Dipped Catfish

Posted on March 3, 2024
Here’s a recipe for Lemon Pepper Hot Dipped Catfish:

Ingredients:

For the Catfish:

  • 4 catfish fillets (about 6-8 ounces each)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Hot Dipping Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup hot sauce (such as Louisiana hot sauce)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Optional Garnish:

  • Lemon wedges
  • Chopped fresh parsley

Instructions:

For the Catfish:

  1. In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, lemon pepper seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Dredge each catfish fillet in the seasoned flour mixture, making sure it is evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.
  3. In a large skillet or frying pan, heat enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pan to about 1/4 inch over medium-high heat.
  4. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the catfish fillets to the skillet in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  5. Fry the catfish fillets for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy and the fish is cooked through. The internal temperature of the fish should reach 145°F (63°C).
  6. Once cooked, transfer the catfish fillets to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

For the Hot Dipping Sauce:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the hot sauce, melted butter, lemon juice, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using) until well combined.
  2. Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.

To Serve:

  1. Arrange the fried catfish fillets on a serving platter.
  2. Serve the hot dipping sauce on the side or drizzle it over the catfish fillets.
  3. Garnish with lemon wedges and chopped fresh parsley, if desired.
  4. Serve the Lemon Pepper Hot Dipped Catfish immediately while it’s still hot.

Enjoy your flavorful and crispy Lemon Pepper Hot Dipped Catfish with the zesty hot dipping sauce! It’s a delicious and satisfying dish that’s perfect for seafood lovers.
