A low-carb chaffle burger is a delicious and keto-friendly alternative to traditional burgers, where the bun is replaced with a chaffle. A chaffle is a simple combination of cheese and eggs cooked in a waffle iron, creating a crispy and bread-like texture. Here’s a basic recipe for a low-carb chaffle burger:

Ingredients:

For the Chaffle:

  1. 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  2. 1 large egg
  3. Optional: 1 tablespoon almond flour or coconut flour (for added texture)
  4. Optional: 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (for a fluffier chaffle)

For the Burger:

  1. 1/4 to 1/2 pound ground beef (or your preferred protein)
  2. Salt and pepper to taste
  3. Cheese slices (cheddar, Swiss, or your favorite keto-friendly cheese)
  4. Lettuce leaves
  5. Tomato slices
  6. Pickles
  7. Mustard or sugar-free ketchup (optional)
  8. Avocado slices (optional)

Instructions:

For the Chaffle:

  1. Preheat your waffle iron.
  2. In a bowl, mix the shredded mozzarella, egg, and optional almond flour or coconut flour until well combined.
  3. If you’re using baking powder, add it to the mixture and stir.
  4. Spoon half of the mixture onto the preheated waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions until golden and crisp.
  5. Repeat with the remaining batter to make a second chaffle.

For the Burger:

  1. Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then shape it into burger patties.
  2. Cook the burger patties on a grill or stovetop until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  3. Place a slice of cheese on each burger patty a minute or two before they’re done cooking to allow it to melt.
  4. Assemble your chaffle burger by placing a chaffle on a plate, followed by a lettuce leaf, the burger patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, pickles, and any other desired toppings.
  5. Top the burger with the second chaffle to create a sandwich.
