Meat Lovers Pizza Casserole is a hearty, cheesy, and savory dish that combines all the flavors of a pizza in a comforting casserole form. Here’s a delicious recipe to make your own:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage (crumbled)
  • 1/2 lb pepperoni slices (cut into quarters)
  • 1/2 lb cooked bacon (crumbled)
  • 1 medium onion (diced)
  • 1 bell pepper (diced, optional)
  • 3 cups marinara sauce (or pizza sauce)
  • 2 cups cooked pasta (penne, rotini, or rigatoni works best)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
  • Fresh parsley or basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the pasta:
    Cook the pasta according to package directions, drain, and set aside.

  2. Cook the meat:
    In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef, Italian sausage, and diced onion. Cook until the meat is browned and crumbled, and the onion is softened (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.

  3. Add the pepperoni and bacon:
    Stir in the pepperoni and cooked bacon. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the pepperoni begins to crisp up slightly. If using bell pepper, add it here and sauté for another 2-3 minutes.

  4. Season the meat mixture:
    Add the garlic powder, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), and salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the marinara or pizza sauce, bringing it to a simmer. Let it cook for another 3-5 minutes until everything is well combined.

  5. Combine with pasta:
    In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the meat mixture. Stir to coat the pasta in the sauce and meat.

  6. Assemble the casserole:
    Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer the pasta and meat mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Top evenly with the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.

  7. Bake the casserole:
    Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the top is slightly golden.

  8. Serve and garnish:
    Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil before serving if desired.
