Million Dollar Spaghetti Casserole

Million Dollar Spaghetti Casserole is a delicious and indulgent baked pasta dish that’s perfect for special occasions or when you’re looking for a comforting meal. Here’s a recipe to make this mouthwatering casserole:

Ingredients:

For the Spaghetti:

  • 1 pound (16 ounces) spaghetti
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

For the Meat Sauce:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Topping:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions:

For the Meat Sauce:

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until it’s browned and crumbled. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Remove from heat and set aside.

For the Spaghetti:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until it’s al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, sour cream, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Spread half of the cooked spaghetti in the bottom of the greased baking dish.
  5. Layer the ricotta cheese mixture evenly over the spaghetti.
  6. Add a layer of meat sauce on top of the ricotta mixture.
  7. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the meat sauce.
  8. Repeat the layers: spaghetti, ricotta cheese mixture, meat sauce, and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  9. Finish with a final layer of shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

Baking:

  1. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbling and the cheese is golden brown.
  3. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
