One-Pan Chicken with Buttered Noodles

Posted on January 5, 2025
One-Pan Chicken with Buttered Noodles is a simple, delicious meal that combines juicy chicken, flavorful seasonings, and buttery noodles—all cooked together in one pan for easy cleanup. Here’s a quick recipe for this comforting dish:

Ingredients:

  • For the Chicken:
    • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • For the Buttered Noodles:
    • 8 oz egg noodles (or any pasta you prefer)
    • 3 tablespoons butter
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or water)
    • 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional, for extra richness)
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
    • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
    • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Instructions:

1. Cook the Chicken:

  1. Season the Chicken: Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Season both sides of the chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika (if using), salt, and pepper.
  2. Sear the Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C). Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.

2. Cook the Noodles:

  1. Cook the Noodles: In the same skillet, add chicken broth and bring it to a simmer. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package instructions, stirring occasionally, until the noodles are tender and most of the liquid has absorbed. If you prefer creamier noodles, add heavy cream along with the broth.
  2. Add Garlic and Butter: Once the noodles are cooked, stir in minced garlic and butter. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the butter has melted and the garlic becomes fragrant. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

3. Combine Chicken and Noodles:

  1. Return the Chicken to the Pan: Slice the cooked chicken into strips or leave the breasts whole, and return them to the skillet with the buttered noodles. Let everything warm together for a couple of minutes.
  2. Garnish: Sprinkle the dish with freshly chopped parsley for a burst of color and added freshness.

4. Serve:

  • Serve the One-Pan Chicken with Buttered Noodles hot. Optionally, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese for extra flavor.

Tips:

  • Add Veggies: To make the dish even more nutritious, you can add spinach, peas, or mushrooms to the pan during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • Use Chicken Thighs: If you prefer a juicier, more flavorful option, substitute chicken breasts with bone-in, skinless thighs.
  • Leftovers: This dish stores well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stove with a splash of water or broth to loosen the noodles.

This One-Pan Chicken with Buttered Noodles is an easy and comforting weeknight meal that comes together in no time! Enjoy the perfect combination of tender chicken and creamy, buttery pasta with minimal effort.
