pan fried cinnamon bananas

Pan-fried cinnamon bananas are a delightful and simple treat. Here’s how you can make them:

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe but firm bananas
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter or coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (optional, for added sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bananas:
    • Peel the bananas and slice them into rounds, about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Mix Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
    • In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar (if using), ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Set it aside.
  3. Pan-Fry the Bananas:
    • Heat the butter or coconut oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Once the butter/oil is melted and the pan is hot, add the banana slices in a single layer.
  4. Cook the Bananas:
    • Let the bananas cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side until they start to caramelize and turn golden brown.
  5. Add Cinnamon Sugar:
    • Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the banana slices in the pan. Gently toss the bananas to coat them evenly with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  6. Finish Cooking:
    • Cook for an additional minute, allowing the sugar to melt and create a caramelized coating on the bananas. Be careful not to burn the sugar.
  7. Serve:
    • Remove the pan from heat and transfer the pan-fried cinnamon bananas to a serving dish.

These pan-fried cinnamon bananas are delicious on their own, served as a snack, or as a topping for oatmeal, yogurt, pancakes, or ice cream. Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar and cinnamon to suit your taste preferences. Enjoy the warm, caramelized sweetness of these delightful bananas!
