Perfect French Toast

Here’s a recipe for perfect French toast:

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of bread (thick slices of brioche, challah, or Texas toast work well)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Butter or cooking spray, for greasing the pan
  • Maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, or other toppings of your choice

Instructions:

  1. In a shallow dish or bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon (if using) until well combined.
  2. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a small amount of butter or cooking spray to grease the pan.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides evenly. Allow any excess egg mixture to drip off.
  4. Place the dipped bread slices onto the preheated skillet or griddle. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. If cooking multiple slices at once, you may need to work in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
  6. Once cooked, transfer the French toast to a plate and keep warm while you cook the remaining slices.
  7. Serve the French toast hot, topped with maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, or any other toppings of your choice.
  8. Enjoy your delicious and perfect French toast!

Tips:

  • Use thick slices of bread to ensure a soft and fluffy interior.
  • Allow the bread to soak in the egg mixture for a few seconds on each side, but not too long, as you don’t want it to become soggy.
  • Adding a pinch of salt to the egg mixture can enhance the flavor of the French toast.
  • For extra flavor, you can also add a splash of orange juice or a sprinkle of nutmeg to the egg mixture.
  • Leftover French toast can be stored in the refrigerator for a day or two and reheated in a toaster or toaster oven before serving.
