Posted on September 30, 2023
Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes offer a delicious twist on the classic Sloppy Joe by incorporating the flavors of a Philly cheesesteak. Here’s a simple recipe for you to try:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef or ground sirloin
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium bell pepper (green or red), finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 slices provolone or American cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions:

  1. Cook Ground Beef:
    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Break it into crumbles as it cooks.
  2. Add Vegetables:
    • Add chopped onions, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet with the ground beef. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Season:
    • Season the mixture with salt and black pepper to taste.
  4. Worcestershire and Ketchup:
    • Pour Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and beef broth into the skillet. Stir to combine.
  5. Simmer:
    • Allow the mixture to simmer for 5-10 minutes until the liquid reduces and the flavors meld together. Adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Prepare Buns:
    • While the meat mixture is simmering, lightly toast the hamburger buns in the oven or on a skillet.
  7. Assemble:
    • Spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun.
  8. Cheese Topping:
    • Place a slice of provolone or American cheese on top of the meat mixture.
  9. Melt Cheese:
    • Broil the assembled sandwiches in the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Serve:
    • Carefully remove the sandwiches from the oven and cover with the top half of the bun.
  11. Enjoy:
    • Serve the Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes immediately and enjoy the delicious combination of flavors.
